Recently, I’ve been sharing more about the submission process in several blog posts and my AWC 2025 presentation. But what I haven’t shared is what has been inspiring me.

Some friends and I have been working on a secret project. Bree Buonomo, Veronica King, and I, started working together on a new writing community, the Typewriter Collective. We are a group of writers, committed to creating a free writing community, for writers, one short story at a time.
If you want to join us in writing contests, challenges, get feedback, and meet other writers with the same goals, be sure to follow us on social media. You can read more about our mission, standards of excellence, and learn how you can participate by following Typewriter Collective on Substack, Instagram, and Threads.
We will be posting about contests each month with our review of contests that will be opening in August coming at the end of this month.
You can see more of what Bree is working on, on her YouTube channel and find Veronica on Instagram.

If you would like to start writing short fiction, check out the blogs linked at the bottom of this post and stay tuned for more tips and tricks. Looking for more ways to participate? Get ready for August submissions, by writing short fiction. You can also help us choose a name for our mascot on Instagram and join a community of writers just like you.
