Half way thought 2025 and I realized that over the last few years I’ve been traveling a lot more. Writing and traveling have always been some of my favorite things to do, and since I’ve been having so much fun adventuring, I wanted to find a way to intentionally include my writing in my travels and share some of the ways I’ve been able to do that with you!

I decided to go on a 1,000 Words series quest, and add a bit of adventure to my writing with a twist on one of the challenges in Natalie and my book. Only this time, I’m trying to draft a story in each of the lower 48 states.
My first two have been my home state of Tennessee, where I’ve written several stories, and most recently, a trip to New York, where I only had the time to write one—more on that trip to come.
So to track my progress, I’ve been making notes with the story and including the name of the place I’m writing from, the challenge, the date, and if I was listening to music while I wrote the story, the title of the song.
Because I live in Tennessee, I’m only including one of the locations. I’ll be creating a separate challenge that will be virtual, although I haven’t figured that one out yet, and I’d like to do something that is local and can be done in a city instead of having to travel so far. If you think that would be fun, do stay tuned!
But, here are my first two stops!

Queens, New York | 6/3/2025

I’ll also share my favorite moments from my travels on my blog as I often do writing research when I travel, visit great local coffee shops, and indie bookshops. You can read more about my trip to New York and see some of my favorite writing spots in Tennessee.
Keep an eye out for new virtual and physical activities here on my blog and in my newsletter. I’ll keep posting my adventures on Instagram as well so check out the highlight there!
