Most of what I post is about flash fiction, but if flash fiction isn’t really your thing, here’s another way you can use 1,000 Words to Get Started.
If you’re working on a writing project and you need some added inspiration, you want to write some shorts or bonus scenes, or you’re just trying to get to know your characters better in scenes that won’t make it into your book, try this!

How To:
- Choose a character from your project, a character you’re trying to get to know.
- Choose your location from the word stickers or a location from your project. It could be a place that this character will never go, or doesn’t go in your project, but you can figure out how they would interact in that setting.
- Use your story genre or a sub genre that is included in your story.
- Choose your word stickers based on the genre you’re writing.

These prompts are in 1,000 Words to Get Started, if you don’t have a copy, you can order it here, or ask your local indie bookstore.
