After 5 years of 300 Things with my Clever Fox planner, I’m making a change. As much as I’ve loved the planners, I’ve found that over the last year, I haven’t used it as much. I filled out most of the months, but the weekly/daily pages weren’t getting much use and I started to feel like I was wasting paper.

It’s a big planner, which is great if you use a backpack, tote or larger purse, but I updated the purse I carry to be more flexible with my travel and it was nearly impossible to use the planner while I’m traveling which ended up being quite a bit.

I don’t like wasting paper, but I do like having something physical for writing. I find I work through ideas better when I have the tactile interface. Because of all of that, I’m changing my planner. My publisher Zara Hoffman, founder of Inimitable books, recommended Archer and Olive. Zara was able to confirm the sizing I wanted and since we have similar ways of using a planner I decided that now would be the time to make the change.

Because the style of planer is different (it’s a dot grid system), I decided to get some stamps and new pens as well. This will give me the freedom to do more page designs like what I’ve been doing on the Vision Board pages in my Clever Fox planner, but I’ll also be able to set up mini calendar pages and keep things neat and uniform.

What’s so special about the new planner? This planner will fit in my purse.

Since I’ve been on the 48 States Flash Fiction Quest, I’ve been carrying my copy of 1,000 Words to Get Started in my purse. I also have my kindle, a notebook (that acts as my brain), and some pens. After some careful measurements and planning, I will be able to add the new planner to the items already in my purse, meaning I can do all my running around without having to carry a second bag. This makes it a lot easier to pop up at a coffee shop or bar and work in some writing time.
