It’s summer 2026 and it has been a little while since I worked on my 48 States Quest. But now that the season is in full swing I’m starting to look ahead at the states I plan to visit—hopefully during the summer.
- Maine, I’d like to visit my co-author, Vera King, and get some photos. Also since we’ve never met her in person, I thought it would be a nice trip before we get into the revision trenches. More on that.
- Alabama, since at some point I’ll be driving through the state, I will plan to knock it out, because who willingly goes there. No hate to the girlies who live there, but WTF.
- Georgia, because as many times as I’ve been there or been through the state, I’ve yet to write a flash fiction there which makes me feel like a silly goose. Oh well.
- Maryland, it’s my home state and it’s been neglected because I didn’t come up with this idea till after I left. I know, I’m just that good at planning ahead.
Hopefully I’ll snag a few more states this fall, but for the time being, I think this is a pretty good list.
On to the other major occupation for this year. I will be entering the revision phase of Country Fried Church Girls (CFCG) and since I will be on deadline, everything else will have to work around the revision schedule.
Since I’m going to be so busy, I plan to go through the steps I use to prep my copy of 1,000 Words to Get Started for travel. When I’m on the go and I don’t have a lot of setup time I will feel a little less rushed. For more on that, check out this blog post. Follow me on IG to share your summer plans!
