It feels like it has been a while since the last time I was drafting, but it’s finally happening. I am working on something new!

While what I’m working on isn’t new new, it is connected to another project, the idea is fresh and I’m in uncharted creative territory with no outline in sight.

So, what does it look like, drafting a new project without an outline? Vibes. And a lot of jumping around. Usually, I’m moving from one unrelated scene to another where I have ideas or flashes or inspiration. Even if it doesn’t ultimately make the project, I’m just trying things on to see how they feel and if they match the project overall.

Often, once I have the bare bones, I will go back and workout an outline then move the scenes I already have into the places they make sense for the story. Anything that doesn’t fit, doesn’t make the cut, but I keep it in my project notes. Sometimes there’s a lot of good backstory there and it helps with later drafts. So, yes, I’m working on something new, it is in the very early stages, but I’m excited to be drafting.

In the mean time, other projects are moving along. The audiobook for Mother Mercy is out and it is fantastic! Audrey Obeyn did an amazing job as the narrator and I’m so incredibly proud of the way it came out. Right now it is available only from Audible here. You can also see the full content warnings on my website.

The cover reveal for Country Fried Church Girls is also coming soon so keep an eye out if you’d like to join the street team!
